Our Programmes

At Kith’n’Kin we believe in connecting families and building communities of support. We have evolved a model that comprises three different types of support.

Acorn Groups

Our 8 week Acorn therapeutic support groups welcome parents to take time for themselves, connect with others, develop self-care techniques, learn about Dr Ross Greene’s Explosive Child and Collaborative Problem Solving approach, and discover what help is out there. Our experience shows that this group is a very good foundation before beginning the NVR group.

NVR or Non Violent Resistance

Some practitioners like to re-name NVR a “New Vision of Relationships”, and this is an apt name. This group is held over 12 sessions and features many threads that come together to break the cycle of escalations and violence. See the NVR map. Parents have often tried so hard with approaches that don’t help, sometimes feeling blamed and discouraged. NVR is a breakthrough and a new beginning.

Lighthouse Group

We believe that change happens over time not overnight. Our friendly drop-in support group is open to any parent or carer who has completed an NVR group.

The NVR Map

The NVR map helps parents understand the journey of Non Violent Resistance, from de-escalation and support through to rebuilding connection and reconciliation.
