Rainbow across a cloudy sky

About Us

Rooted in lived experience.
Growing a community of support.

Kith’n’Kin came into being in response to a huge unmet need. Families were in crisis, suffering the sometimes-daily trauma of children’s out-of-control behaviours, violence, and abuse.

Our Story

We realised that so many parents were missing out on vital support, leaving them vulnerable, isolated, and overwhelmed.

Helen Genty set up Kith’n’Kin CIC in 2020, after using our Acorn Groups and Non-Violent Resistance parenting groups in Medway with parents referred by Early Help or the Youth Offending Team.

It didn’t take long before the team began to grow, with Tracy, Terry, and a few very important parent mentors who share their experience with other parents. Six years later we are still committed to offering a free service to parents in the South East who need our support.

Tracy

Occupational Therapist and NVR Practitioner

Tracy qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999 with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and spent 12 years in the NHS specialising in sensory integration therapy. After an extended break to care for her son, who is an autistic PDAer and has struggled to engage in education and the wider community, in 2021 Tracy re-trained as an accredited Level 3 NVR practitioner and is accredited with NVR UK.

Tracy is proud to be a lived experience practitioner, combining her previous professional experience as an OT and her current work as an NVR practitioner with her first-hand experience as a mum to a child who finds everyday living a challenge and displays many forms of distressed behaviour. Through building connection and sharing practical understanding, Tracy enables families to transform lives together.

Our Mission

To empower parents and carers with the tools, confidence, and community support needed to manage challenging behaviours through Non-Violent Resistance and Collaborative Problem Solving. We strive to rebuild family connections, reduce isolation, and create safer, more harmonious homes.

Values That Grow With Us

Empathy and Respect

We listen without judgement. We value your expertise because you know your children best.

Safety

Creating safe spaces, physically and emotionally, is the foundation of all our work.

Growth Change

We believe in the capacity for change and love Barry Mason’s reminder that change is a willingness to experiment with difference, plus repetition over time. Change happens over time, not overnight.

Solidarity Connection

Strength comes from connection. Kith’n’Kin values community and aims to become a parent-led organisation.
